Wonderland in Hot Summer - Pictures from Mt. Lushan

Are you tired of endless work and complicated personal relationship?

Can’t you stand the hot summer day?

Then…how about having a trip in a remote wonderland, being far from the madding crowd.

Last week I went to Mt. Lushan to have a short holiday. Lushan is one of China’s key attractions and scenic spots, claiming to have the “peculiar and beautiful mountain under heaven”. It was listed as the World Heritage in 1996 and was approved as National Geological Park in 2001, also was approved as one of the first “World Geopark” by UNESCO in 2004.

Because the average temperature of year is 16-17℃, Lushan is a famous summer resort. It is located in the northern part of Jiangxi Province and the southern part of Jiujiang City.

Since 1895, thousands of villas had been built on Lushan by people from about 20 countries. Lushan played an indispensable role in the Chinese history. The Chinese first Chairman Mao Zedong presided over three conferences of the Communist Party on Lushan.

Historic celebrities gathered here. Chinese remarkable poets and great writers such as Tao Yuanming of the Jin Dynasty, Li Bai, Bai Juyi, Zhu Xi, Su Shi of the Song Dynasty and so on, all of whom once traveled and lived here, leaving lots of widely praised poems and inscriptions.

Besides famous tourist spots fairy Cave, Jinxiu (charm and beauty) Valley, Hanpo Mouth, Wulao (five-elders) Ridge, Huajing(flower pathway), Lushan gathers other beauties such as deep and secluded gutters, valleys, ridges, cliffs, waterfalls, odd holes and stones.

The most enchanting natural landscape is Sandie Waterfall, which drops 120 meters. It’s upper part likes flying snowflakes, the middle section likes sparking broken jade and the lowest part likes a silver dragon plunging into a pool.

Travel tips:

It is convenient to get Mt. Lushan because it just located in the suburbs of Jiujiang City. People can first arrive in Jiujiang City by air, by train or by bus. There are special bus in JiuJiang which can sent you to the Kuling Town on Mt. Lushan.
There is a middle-sized town called Kuling Town on Lushan. Hotels can be easily found there. Or you can live in the Villa District near the town, at here lots of the villas works as hotels.

It’s very hot in Beijing now, not only the temperature but also the people’s heart. Everyone is looking forward to the great games. When I was driving from UIBE to Sina.com some days before, I saw there are thousands of people around "Bird Nest" to take a near look of this great stadium. However, there are only 2 days to go and I collected some great videos for this great game from outside China. Now let me share these here to you all:

Some funny pictures from China about the Olympic Games

Here I found some funny pictures about the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The first is how the waitress are trained to smile. As we can see, everyone one is taking a pencil in her mouth. Thus to make sure that only 8 teeth are shown to the others.

The second one here seems to be a "balance training". Everyone is taking a book on her head and keep it there. As we can see from this picture, even when having a book on head, they are smiling so sweet ;)

Anyway, I don’t quite understand how to explain this picture in English properly, maybe you can give me some tips?

A couple of weeks before, Celia at ifgogo translated this great song to English here. However, now I found one even more creative than the original MTV. It just takes advantage from the characters in a world wide famous game: World of Warcraft and then made up the whole song a brand new MTV.

It’s really so funny in another style, enjoy it :)

(Though I tried my best, I still have no idea about who created this great video)

Earthquake(or aftershock) strikes Sichuan again at 16:31, Aug 1st

A friend in Chengdu told me that another earthquake had just happened there and the shaking lasted for about 1 mintue!

Helicopters over Beijing

I heard very big noise when I was sleeping this morning. I am a little scared for the noise is really too big, just like some "big stuff" floating right above me. Then a roommate told me that they are helicopters.

People at SMTH (A very famous BBS in China, especially among people lived in Beijing) are also talking about this issue. They said it could make people feel more safe – that they are protected even from possible air attack?

However, I really hope there would be no terrorists and the Game would be successfully held. As the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games coming sooner and sooner, it’s really a crisis time for everyone in Beijing.

FYI: Today is August 1st, also known as the 81th Army Day of China.

Saying Something on Iraq back to the Games

I am very happy to hear that the ban on Iraq competing in the Beijing Olympics has been over-turned finally!

I kept an eye on how it went ahead for days since I heard of the Ban. I firstly felt sad with the Iraqi athletes who took years for the great Games but then they would lose the treasurable opportunity. Some of them even cried heavily for it, and I seemed as if I could see the tears.

Then I was puzzled with this principle relating politics. It is originally to protect the Olympic Spirit but people’s feelings was hurt by it somehow. At least I felt very sorry to the Iraqi people and its athletes who was just recovering from the disaster of the War.. In another word, since the Olympic Games is a game for all countries in the world as well as all the people in the world, why should it miss one country as well as its athletes? So, I think such politics oriented principle would be a dilemma indeed when it is being carried out.

Anyway, like the news paper said, this final agreement is the victory of all! My only wish now is to give the other 5 Iraqi athletes more chances to get back their qualification for attending the Games.

Am I right?

China blocks all electronic devices delivery for Olympics 2008

Yesterday I went to a post office to send a video-camera to my friend with EMS.But the employee there said that I can’t send a video-camera since it’s being blocked while Beijing Olympics goes on.

So i turned to some other express service provider.Unfortunately all of them told me that i can’t send out a video-camera during Beijing Olympics.

And finally a provider which name:Shentong Express confirmed my suspects.They said that all electronic devices delivery are blocked during Beijing Olympics.

I also bought a PSP on Chinese C2C website ‘Taobao‘.Today the seller called me to tell me that he couldn’t deliver my PSP to me.Because the express service provider said it’s being blocked.

oh what a pity!It seems like you can’t deliver any electronic devices in China during Olympics.it makes me feel angry about the Game.
